Fiserv Unveiled as New Presenting Partner for the Tournament

ATLANTA, June 15, 2021 – Five-time Truist Atlanta Open presented by Fiserv singles champion, and former University of Georgia All-American, John Isner headlined a stellar lineup of special guests and attendees at Media Day for the 2021 Truist Atlanta Open presented by Fiserv held today at the Twelve Hotel Atlantic Station. As part of the event, Tournament Director Eddie Gonzalez announced Fiserv, a global leader in payments and financial technology, as the new presenting partner for the tournament, which will return to Atlantic Station on July 24 – August 1, 2021.

Also in attendance at the event was former UGA and NFL great, Champ Bailey as well as Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan and Atlanta City Councilmember Antonio Brown who represents Atlantic Station and the surrounding area. Isner and Bailey are perhaps the two most successful professional athletes to come out of UGA in the last 15 years. It was a chance for media to meet with the special guests, tournament partners and hear what's new for tennis fans in 2021.

Isner is off to a great start in 2021. He has reached the quarterfinals at two events, including the Masters 1000 in Madrid. Traveling the world, Isner always smiles when he thinks about returning to play in Atlanta.

"Obviously I love to play in Georgia and to compete at the Truist Atlanta Open where I feel at home and have had so much success,” stated Isner. “I can’t wait to get back on court at Atlantic Station in front of all those supportive tennis and Bulldog fans.”

Isner, consistently in the top-10 is now shooting for something rare and special. Winning the same title six times. Isner holds a career mark of 31-4 in Atlanta and is looking to join the ranks of Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors as the fifth American to win an ATP Tour title on six occasions.

Top Americans and Atlanta favorites Taylor Fritz and Reilly Opelka will be returning in 2021. Fritz and Opelka have both tasted success in Atlanta and would love to add a Truist Atlanta Open presented by Fiserv singles title to their resume.

“Atlanta tennis fans are in for a treat with the player field that will come together,” stated Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said he and his staff have a commitment to make the Truist Atlanta Open presented by Fiserv a “Mini US Open,” so that means inviting the best women players for the annual “Sunday Showdown delivered by UPS”, this year on Sunday, July 25.

The opening night match will feature Kim Clijsters for the first time. Clijsters exemplifies the best in tennis and makes Atlanta one of the first stops on her comeback. The former world No. 1 and International Tennis Hall of Fame member has won four career Grand Slam singles title and two Grand Slam doubles crowns. Clijsters will take on Sloane Stephens, a former US Open champ herself and an Atlanta favorite.

Media Day also puts the spotlight on some of the supportive tournament partners and sponsors, the new location at Atlantic Station, as well as The Giving Kitchen as the charity partner.

Companies like Truist and Fiserv align perfectly with the tournament and how they interact with the community.

“We’re pleased to celebrate the return of professional tennis to Atlanta as the title sponsor of the Truist Atlanta Open,” said Jenna Kelly, Truist Georgia regional president. “Partnering with events like the Truist Atlanta Open to support our community is a great example of how we work toward our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”

“We are proud to be presenting, for the first time, the Truist Atlanta Open, a world-class event featuring the best in tennis,” said Leigh Asher, Chief Marketing Officer, Fiserv. “In recognition of the occasion, Fiserv will also sponsor donations to causes chosen by Kim Clijsters and Sloane Stephens as part of the Sunday Showdown. We believe companies are platforms for good and we’re honored to be part of an event that is committed to giving back to the community to move the world forward.”
