Fritz, Opelka Return to 2021 Truist Atlanta Open

Pair of Young Americans in Top-50 to Start Summer in Atlanta, Tickets on Sale

ATLANTA, GA  May 18, 2021 – The player field is starting to come together for the 2021 Truist Atlanta Open.

Two top-50 Americans in Taylor Fritz and Reilly Opelka have committed to the summer event at Atlantic Station, to be held July 24-August 1.

Fritz, a native of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., is currently the highest ranked American by the ATP at No. 31. He was a singles finalist in 2019, losing in two close sets to Alex de Minaur. So far in 2021, the 6'4” righty has reached the semifinals in events at Doha and Cagliari. He reached a career high ranking of No. 24 in 2020.

The big serving Opelka has been a fixture in the ATP top-50 since mid 2019. He returns to the site of his first ATP semifinal with two career singles titles and an opportunity to rise up the rankings. Opelka just reached his first ATP 1000 semifinal last week in Rome. The Delray Beach, Fla. resident plays his best tennis on hardcourts and being 6'11” helps his serve and return in the summer heat. Opelka has said on numerous occasions that the summer conditions in Atlanta suit his game.

“It's important we have the best Americans in Atlanta at the Truist Atlanta Open,” said Tournament Director, Eddie Gonzalez. "Taylor and Reilly have supported our event with not only their play on the court, but also by participating in activations and events with our patrons and partners.”

Gonzalez added that Fritz and Opelka's sessions are typically “sold out” so getting ticket packages early is key this summer.

Fritz is looking to create more memories in Atlanta.

"I'm looking forward to returning to Atlanta and the Truist Atlanta Open. 2019 was a special week for me. It was the first time I was one of the top seeds in a big event and I look forward to building on that."

Fritz and Opelka join John Isner and University of Georgia's Trent Bryde as already announced singles main draw entries.

The event’s best singles and doubles draw in its history is expected. The 2021 event will strictly adhere to all CDC, state and local health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe experience throughout the venue. Fans will also notice an even more friendly layout to the grounds. Tickets are on sale now at

Stay tuned for more player commitments soon to be announced...
