Four to Play for Qualifying Wildcard into 2019 BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data
Wildcard Playoffs Taking place Mid Week
All Four WIldcard Competitors with Georgia Ties
ATLANTA, July 13, 2019 – For those looking to get a jump start on their BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data experience, the semifinals and finals of the BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data Wildcard Challenge will take place July 17 and 18, on the practice courts at Atlantic Station. Play will start at 10 am on July 17 and 11 am on July 18.
The winner on July 18, will earn a wildcard into the BB&T Atlanta Open singles qualifying draw that starts July 20.
"It’s exciting to see a player emerge from our local tennis centers, especially a player with local ties to get a chance to compete in the BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data qualifying draw,” stated Eddie Gonzalez, BB&T Atlanta Open Tournament Director. “Three years ago, Georgia Tech’s Chris Eubanks, came through seven matches in the Wildcard Challenge and then two matches in the singles qualifying draw to earn a spot in the main draw of an ATP World Tour 250 event.”
All four players remaining have strong ties to the state of Georgia.
Hailing from the Ginepri Performance Tennis Academy, Stice is a recent high school graduate- , class of 2019. He just signed to play college tennis with Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are getting a five-star signee that is the no. 29 player in the class of 2019. He currently touts a record of 26-7 against fellow four and five star recruits in his class, along with a no. 15 RPI in the Dunlop rankings. He also held a 41-13 overall record over the last 12 months as a junior.
Reinberg is no stranger to the BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data. He defeated Felix Corwin 6-2 7-5, to reach the Wildcard Playoffs semifinals. This Georgia Bulldog was the College Night player pick for the 2018 BB&T Atlanta Open and played in the singles main draw. Reinberg was named First-Team All-SEC for second time in four seasons in 2019. He also received an at-large bid to 2019 singles championships. He finished his senior season ranked No. 38 in ITA singles, also ranked No. 61 in ITA doubles rankings with Walker Duncan. He totaled eight victories against nationally-ranked opponents. In 2017, he received main draw doubles wildcard to the 2017 BB&T Atlanta Open in July after reaching the singles semifinals of back-to-back International Tennis Federation Circuit events in Tulsa and Wichita.
Terry may play his college tennis at Cleveland State, but he's an accomplished junior player from Alpharetta. The rising junior earned a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team after finishing with a 25-11 singles record for the 2018-19 campaign. He also finished 14-12 in doubles, including being named "Doubles Team of the Week" in the Horizon for the week of April 23. He defeated Danie van den Heever for his spot in the final four of the 2019 BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data Wildcard Playoffs.
Bryde also is familiar with the BB&T Atlanta Open presented by First Data. He's tasted success playing in his hometown ATP World Tour event before. In 2015, he won the Wildcard Challenge, and then defeated a former ATP touring pro in the first round of qualifying. The rising sophomore at the University of Georgia recorded eight wins in both singles and doubles to cap his first year as a Bulldog. He was ranked fourth nationally, and first in the state of Georgia as a junior while achieving a career-high No.8 ranking in the International Tennis Federation Junior World rankings. During his successful career, he competed in all four junior Grand Slams around the world, and was invited to participate in the prestigious ITF Junior Masters Event in Chengdu, China.
