Eubanks Receives Singles Wild Card

Yellow Jacket All-American in Singles Main Draw, College Night July 25

ATLANTA, May 9, 2017 – One of the biggest smiles, fans will see at Atlantic Station come July 25, and during the entirety of BB&T Atlanta Open week will be on the face of Georgia Tech’s, Christopher Eubanks. The Westlake High School product is no stranger to ATP World Tour 250 event as he received a wild card berth to the 2015 BB&T Atlanta Open in both singles and doubles. Partnering with Atlanta resident, Donald Young in doubles, they won their opening-round and quarterfinals matches before falling to Bob and Mike Bryan, the world's No. 1-ranked doubles team, in the semifinals. In 2016, Eubanks won a local wildcard tournament to get into singles qualifying draw. There he defeated American, Tommy Paul and Thiago Montiero of Brazil to earn a spot in the main draw.

"It's once again a BB&T Atlanta Open tradition to extend one of our main draw singles wildcards to a deserving player from one of our major universities,” said Eddie Gonzalez, BB&T Atlanta Open Tournament Director. “Chris Eubanks is a leader on and off the court, a local product and embodies what it means to be a student-athlete. Additionally, we wish him the best of luck as he will be competing for an NCAA title in the coming weeks.”

In earlier tournament announcements, defending champion, Nick Kyrgios, along with the United States No. 1, Jack Sock, will lead a strong summer field to kickoff the summer hardcourt and U.S. Open Series. It was also released that Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams, and Canada's top ranked player and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model, Genie Bouchard will be featured in a special Sunday, July 23, women's exhibition evening session. The most decorated doubles team of all-time, the Bryan Brothers, are also returning to Atlanta for the 2017 event.

Eubanks has been the anchor of the Georgia Tech Men’s Tennis Team the last three years and has been ranked consistently in the top-10 nationally. For the 2015-16 campaign, he is two-time ACC Player of the Year and first-team All-ACC. Twice during the 2016-17 season, he was ACC Player of the Week.

The affable Eubanks, always a popular player with fans, will be a part of “BB&T Atlanta Open College Night.”

"College Night, Tuesday, July 25, is always a highlight of BB&T Atlanta Open week,” stated Gonzalez. “With the popularity of college sports in the Metro Atlanta area and around the state of Georgia, it's always a fun to watch a local college star play one of the best players in the world. We always have "College Night" themed specials and a few surprises thrown in for fans."

Gonzalez adds, “The Georgia Tech Football team or men’s basketball team are not able to play against the Atlanta Falcons or Hawks, other than an exhibition. Eubanks gets to play for real against top ATP World Tour professionals from around the world, as our College Night feature match!.”
