BB&T Atlanta Open Serves Up World-Class Fun with Daily Special Events

ATLANTA, GA. –  The 2014 BB&T Atlanta Open has announced a series of fun, exciting special events that will take place daily throughout the tennis tournament at Atlantic Station, July 19-27. The events include Kids Weekend, Opening Ceremony, Military Day, College Night, the Post-Match Yacht Rock Review concert, USTA Member Appreciation Day, ALTA Night, Ladies Day, Fan/Volunteer Appreciation Day, Saturday Night Social and BB&T Champions Day. Each event is included in the purchase of a ticket.

Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 27 – USTA Family Zone

Try tennis! Come to the USTA Family Zone and enjoy hitting tennis balls on our 36' court. While this new format of tennis has been designed for kids 10 and under, adult will have a blast hitting on the court. Low-bouncing red balls are supplied along with right-sized racquets. Open Saturday, July 19-Saturday, July 20, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.; Sunday, July 27, noon to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 – Kids Weekend

The BB&T Atlanta Open is kicking off the 2014 tournament with Kids Weekend. The special weekend offers kids 18 years of age and under to attend the day’s matches for free, when accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

Monday, July 21 – Opening Ceremonies & Military Night

The Opening Ceremonies, in addition to Military Day, will take place on Monday, July 21. The event includes the Honor Guard, a rocking Army Band from Fort Benning and local dignitaries.

Tuesday, July 22 – College Night

It’s date night! Buy one ticket and bring your main squeeze for free. Our two-for-one special is for college students with IDs who buy the ticket at the tournament. We want you to wear your school colors. Cheering and chanting is definitely encouraged … at least between the points!

Wednesday, July 23 – Gas South Sponsored Post-Match Concert

Gas South presents a post-match concert by Yacht Rock Revue on Wednesday evening. This good-time, popular Atlanta  band will recreate the best of ’70s soft soul, including the music of Hall & Oates, Kenny Loggins and Madonna, in a performance on Stadium Court.

Thursday, July 24 – USTA Member Appreciation Day Presented by THOR•LO/ALTA Night

Atlanta is home to tennis fanatics with the world’s largest local tennis association (ALTA) and the nation’s largest USTA community tennis association. USTA Member Appreciation Day will be hosted by USTA Georgia and sponsored by THOR•LO. ALTA Night will include giveaways, Junior Challenge Ladder recognition and a Run/Roll exhibition.

Friday, July 25 – Ladies Day & Fireworks

Ladies Day will highlight the day session with a VIP package, including an ATP player clinic and lunch at Strip. There will also be a BB&T Ball Toss competition on Stadium Court with the winner taking home a $200 BB&T Visa gift card. Fireworks will light up the sky following the night session!

Saturday, July 26 – Fan/Volunteer Appreciation Day Presented by PGA Superstore & Saturday Night Social Presented by SVEDKA

The day session will feature the Fan/Volunteer Appreciation Day presented by PGA Superstore where we recognize our loyal attendees and volunteers. The Saturday Night Social is presented by SVEDKA and will include drink specials and gate giveaways.

Sunday, July 27 – BB&T Champions Day

On the last day of the tournament, the BB&T Champions Day will feature the tournament’s successful tennis players who have reached the singles and doubles finals and recognize local champions, in and outside of the world of sports.

“Each year, we strive to produce a variety of special events that add to the fun, family-oriented atmosphere of the tournament,” stated Eddie Gonzalez, Tournament Director. “We are excited to unveil daily events, such as the Yacht Rock Revue post-match concert, College Night and fireworks, to coincide with the world-class tennis played at Atlantic Station.
