The Truist Atlanta Open is one of the 10 ATP Tour events in the United States, and annually takes place at Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta.
Eddie Gonzalez, the event’s Tournament Director, has an answer for those sports and tennis fans looking for something safe to do this summer.
“The Truist Atlanta Open is back!,” stated Gonzalez. “I could not be more excited about live tennis and in-person attendance at Atlantic Station this summer. These are the best tennis players in the world, and we have the best tennis fans in the world. We are working with local officials, the city of Atlanta and our medical advisors to offer a safe, healthy and fun event to all involved, from the players to sponsors, fans, officials, volunteers and staff.”
“I'm looking forward to seeing all the Georgia Bulldog and tennis fans in Atlanta this July!," said John Isner, five-time Atlanta champion. "Missing a year is making it even more special. Atlanta has always been the start of my US summer hard court season and I'll be shooting for another Truist Atlanta Open title in 2021!"
Safety protocols that will be in place include socially distanced stadium seating that complies with local guidelines, expanded space within the venue, face covering mandate, ample touchless hand sanitizer stations, contactless entry, screening and transactions, and robust cleaning and disinfecting procedures throughout the venue. Fans will also notice an even more friendly layout to the grounds. There will be a new stadium design with more enhanced seating, more shade, and nine days of exciting tennis with theme day and nights for fans to enjoy and experience.
Gonzalez is also excited about the event’s returning and new partners.
“We feel we have the best title partner in sports in Truist. They share our vision in being an event that brings our entire community together that also gives back locally with multiple Atlanta charity partner benefactors. Other new corporate partners to date include NCR, Cadillac, SeatGeek and Dunlop. This year’s event will also recognize and honor local frontline healthcare workers and roll out its inaugural STEM program, benefitting metro Atlanta school kids, with support from GA Power.”
"At Truist, supporting our communities is among the ways we deliver on our purpose of inspiring and building better lives and communities,” said Jenna Kelly, Truist Northern Georgia Regional President. “The Truist Atlanta Open is a major event that brings great tennis to Atlanta and also helps give back to our community. We are excited to see professional tennis back in Atlanta again at Atlantic Station this summer.”
Following the postponement of the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a world-class field is expected once again.
Stay tuned for player commitments soon to be announced...
